Ronald T. Harvey
Born and raised in Monticello, Utah,
Ron developed an interest in visual arts at a very early age. He
received his art training at Salt Lake Community College, but also studied
Electronics and Business Management. He worked at Hill Air Force Base's
Precision
Measurement Equipment Laboratory for eighteen
years, worked ten years as manager of an electronics wholesale/retail
business, and
eight years as a Quality Engineer for Rockwell
International.
Ron always enjoyed painting wildlife
and landscapes, and while he elected to pursue a career in electronics, his
real desire was to create paintings with a focus on the beauty of the world
around us.
Since his retirement in 2004, he has
turned his attention toward developing his skills in fine art. He is a
Resident Artist at Ogden Arts,
in Ogden, Utah. His paintings can be viewed
at several venues in the greater Ogden area.
Ron and his wife Bonnie, raised five
children, and have lived in South Ogden since 1969. During most of
those years, he was actively
involved in the promotion of visual arts.
Mr. Harvey has taught painting and drawing classes at various locations, and
has been a member of
the Palette Club of Ogden for almost twenty
years. He was elected president of that organization for two terms, and
is presently serving
as their Newsletter Editor.
Ron makes frequent trips with his
photography equipment, to the
Four Corners area, to the Seattle area, and to
other locations around
the western United States. These trips
provide most of the reference material for his paintings. Many of his
paintings are of Southeastern
Utah scenes, and reflect his love for this
red-rock country.
